I so wanted to put Top Gun in my list. Still love that movie, but not really a war movie I guess. Don't judge me!

Good show, I like it a lot.

    Also no love for Zulu?

    But yeah: Full Metal Jacket,
    Platoon,
    Saving Private Ryan,
    Gettysburg,
    Good Morning Vietnam
    The Hurt locker
and a couple different types of war movies, Troy and Starship Troopers.

One other movie not mentioned to date is the 1965 B&W classic "The Train" with Burt Lancaster and especially Paul Scofield in one of his best roles. Frankenheimer was brought in to replace Arthur Penn as director at Burts insistence and the result was a gritty 'real feel' film that was a commercial success and contains some great action sequences. The final confrontation between the 2 main characters is memorable.

Since we are in the laundry list portion of thread I want to add :
    1 In Harms Way
    2 The Frogmen

Funny there is no love for "All Quiet On the Western Front"

Perhaps because we were all introduced to it in 6th grade history class.

Actually, JR had it as his #1 on the first page of the thread. Although the book may not have been written yet when he was in Grade 6. :D

Sorry. You have been judged lacking in taste and savoir faire.
