Bloom was terribly wrong for the role, agreed.
But your second point is moot. The Crusaders took the Levant from the Turks, who themselves were invaders and conquerors. I'm not sure there is a right in history. Every group of people displaced or conquered the previous group.

That is often the trouble when people portray the Crusades. They portray the Crysaders as noble or as villainous. Neither is appropriate. The Turks and the Christians were both invaders in that region

One I've seen in the last few years that would be in my top ten now.

I saw Lawrence of Arabia on a big screen in a big theater during a revival maybe 20 years ago. I think it was at the AFI THeater in Silver Spring. On the big screen it was amazing. I saw Patton in the theater too. THat was great. Never saw Apocolypse Now in the theater, that would have to be something to see. Saving Private Ryan in the theater is a completely different experience than seeing it at home, even on a large screen TV with multiple speakers.

I think that seeing some movies as intended makes a huge difference.

Definitely the case for Lawrence of Arabia. What a beautful film. Patton, eh.

I remember seeing Patton in a movie theater the first time and being blown away by the opening, just so big
