The wheelhouse for spitted is more apt to be Rosemary Clooney

    And right in spnited's wheelhouse.

This Weekend Update skit is great so far. The prostitution commemorative stamp joke was hilarious.

I believe that started after Chevy left the show.

I know it did, but it was still one of the great classics.

I have no memory of this. It's like Alf meets Fraggle Rock, though.

The bad thing about this skit is I'm hearing Fozzie Bear and Dr. Teeth.

OK, I'll be a little behind with some observations because I'm watching from my TiVo, but a few thoughts.

First off, I was 15 and watching when this very first episode came on, so I was there on the ground floor. I remember going to school the following Monday and talking about some of the skits with my friend, who also happened to be watching. I don't recall reading a single thing about it leading up to the first episode, so I just happened to be lucky enough to be on the right channel. Seeing the first-ever episode was pure chance.

I still remember laughing my ass off 33 years ago when they did the Weekend Update story about the 38th murder at the Blaine Hotel, then went to commercial two minutes later with "Guests on Saturday Night stay at the Blaine Hotel ..."

    Really takes me back.

And, sadly, Weekend Update was pretty darn short back then. It was so fantastic with Chevy Chase. Now it goes on for 10-12 minutes and you don't get anywhere near the laughs you did in three minutes of Chevy.
