Dumping fuel before trying to land at JFK.

The spokesman said he did not know when the plane was likely to land. And officials were unsure how serious the situation was.

The fucking plane is on fire. Sounds pretty serious to me.

It may be semantics, and I haven't read the article yet, but there's a difference between the plane being on fire and a fire on the plane.

Reportedly landed safely and returned to the gate with no incident.

AP report says there was a fire in one of the engines.

Wonder if this is the same type of aircraft as the Qantas plane that had an engine fire a few weeks ago.

And any fire in a plane cruising at 35,000 feet is serious.

Not one person challenged the substance of Warren Buffett's remarks. Very telling.

    Armchair,

I doubt that it was an A380. Only a few carriers have those. Qantas, singapore air and air france I think.

But yes, still a harrowing thought.

Emirates recently resumed A380 service out of JFK to Dubai.

There were three incidents with Delta over the weekend. It makes me nervous. I'll fly Delta home for Christmas in a few weeks.

Sidenote that might only interest me: Leo DiCaprio was on the Moscow-bound plane.
