Maybe he watching a tape of the last game. It's his porn!

  2. I can attest to the awesomeness of FIOS, Moddy. If you ever need late-night customer service, you're in for a treat. When I would call at 1 a.m., I'd get a live body. And the poor guy was so bored we'd fix my glitch, then just chat about the service, etc. He even gave me advice on hooking up my surround sound and home theater.

I went to my iTunes yesterday just to see - two seconds to download a song. I loaded up two half-hour TV shows. Seven minutes.

I have to see a doctor. You know, the whole four-hour thing.

As for goalmouth's point, yeah. I didn't want a phone, so I got a price for TV and Internet. If I added a phone, it was five bucks a month CHEAPER with all the specials they run with the "Triple Play" and I get a $250 gift card in 90 days. Papa needs a new pair of shoes!

Come to think of it, AT&T owes me a $100 gift card that I'd completely forgotten about. Thanks, Moddy!

FIOS was the only thing I lost in my divorce that I actually missed. :/

Moddy, try uploading a file on FIOS. That's where you really *really* notice the difference compared to other broadband providers. Put a 5-10 MB attachment on an e-mail or post a big photo to Facebook or upload a video to YouTube and watch how fast that sucker goes up.

  6. Another thing I noticed about FIOS was how much better the on demand service was compared to the non-existent DirecTV (can't speak to it now, but there was nothing really when I switched a couple of years back) and even what Comcast currently offers. Plus, I remember the whole system being more intuitive to operate than Comcast is, from the guide on down to the on demand stuff. The only negative was the crappy low-range router they gave us as compared to what Comcast offered. I was pretty happy with Verizon

I've had FIOS for 5 years. They gave a great deal when I moved into my town because there were very few parts where service was available. The price has steadily gone up though.

Like the service a lot -- the only issue that I have is that in order to get the greater capacity DVR, they make you wait for a tech to come instead of shipping you one.

Switched from local cable to FIOS this week. We got decent internet access from Cox, so I wouldn't say this is a massive improvement, but the TV is better -- more channels, widgets, nicer-looking on-screen graphics. So far, so good (though having to dial 10 digits for local calls is a tiny pain).

Our hood isn't swanky, hence Verizon has no immediate plans to wire here for FIOS. It's pissing me off.

So in other words, they won't be stopping by your house.

And then your wife walked in, asked who you were talking to, and you said Jake from FIOS, and she got on the phone and asked Jake from FIOS what he was wearing?

I used to have Comcast's internet service. It sucked ass. Constant slow-downs. I switched to Fios internet about four years ago. Not one problem with it the entire time I've had it. Not one. You know how the "fix-all" for internet problems is to unplug your router, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in? I think in four years I've maybe had to do that two or three times. With Comcast, I had to do it repeatedly. It is fantastic internet service, and if your neighborhood is wired for Fios, you should get it and not think twice about it.

I dumped my DirecTV and switched to the Fios TV last year. I'm not as wild about that as I am the internet service. I had MLB Extra Innings and NHL Center Ice on DirecTV and every game was in HD. Fios TV only carries a couple games a night in HD, and watching sports in standard def sucks ass when you're used to HD. Especially for hockey ... hockey is literally unwatchable in standard def.

But overall, I'm with Moddy ... Fios is highly recommended.
