We had the Road to Omaha thread. The CWS is under way.
TCU wins its debut 8-1 against Florida State.
UCLA leads Florida 4-2 in the fourth. Florida center fielder Matt den Dekker just made a catch certain to be the play of the day on "SportsCenter."

I hope I'm not the only one whose first thought when he saw that play was Willie Mays at the Polo Grounds in the '54 Series.

I did, but quickly remembered: Polo Grounds much deeper to CF wall, Mays much farther to run, Mays stops on a dime, spins and throws back to infield. So, yeah, but with important footnotes.

    -- It was Jim Edmonds-esque.
-- Both Florida teams are sucking today.

Mike Martin coaches FSU. No chance of winning in Omaha.

Florida dropped a deuce in the punch bowl today. That squad was the No. 3 National Seed? Yikes. TCU on the other hand dominated in its first CWS appearance. Couldn't be more proud of my Alma Mater. Wish I could have been in Omaha.

UCLA's in great shape, especially since it didn't have to burn Cole in the opener.

Why is so Florida State so bad in this event every year?

Bruins are set up pretty good.
TCU will have to use Purke to stay alive against Fla. St.
So if TCU wins, it won't have him to face UCLA. Might have the same guy that got knocked around today or the third starter.
UCLA has Rasmussen, who pitched a two-hitter to beat CS Fullerton, or Bauer, who shut down Florida in the first CWS game.

And Cole can pitch any game Savage chooses in the championship series.
