Vince Young and Matt Leinart, who can both be considered at the onset of "journeyman" status in the NFL, were the starting QBs in the national championship game the last time a team from the SEC wasn't present.

As for the griping about 9-6, every SEC team to win the title in this time period did it with great defense, save 2010 Auburn, who at least had solid individual talent on that side of the ball.

That USC-Texas game was the best title game of the last 10 years. Lots of big plays, lots of timely plays, lots of offense, lots of stars, a final winning play. Loved it.

Agreed. Miami-OSU might be up there as well, but the pass interference call taints it a little bit.

I'm 29 and say that USC/Texas was the best college football game I've ever watched.

People love offense more than defense, so it was a dream scenario for the BCS. And if you look at the names in that game, holy shit -- Matt Lienart, Reggie Bush, Vince Young, LenDale While, Michael Huff, Michael Griffin, Limas Sweed, Selvin Young, Dwayne Jarrett, Jamaal Charles, Steve Smith, David Thomas, Winston Justice, Cedric Griffin, Frostee Rucker, Darnell Bing, Clay Matthews, Brian Cushing.
