Next year, saw LMU run Dembo and Leckner off the court in the NCAA first round.

Remember Dembo from Fox Tech high school in San Antonio. Had a sister named Fenise.

 

That's odd. The story I always heard about his name was that it was a variation of finis, as in finished, because his mother said when he was born that she was done having kids.

 

Loved it when out of the blue there would be a team like Wyoming making a run through the NCAAs.

 

Loved Dembo and Derrick Chievous; had a thing for late-80s high-scoring forwards who did nothing in the pros.

 

Wasn't Derrick Chievous the kid whose nickname was Band-Aid because he always wore a band-aid somewhere on him for no reason whatsoever?

 

You mean like Florida Gulf Coast? It still happens regularly.

 

Wyoming made the NCAAs fairly regularly under Jim Brandenburg. Since he left, not so much.

I think Fennis is the only UW athlete ever to make an SI cover.

 

Or Kent State, George Mason, Virginia Commonwealth, Cornell or Davidson?

 

Still waiting on that Marcus Harris SI cover I was SURE was coming in 1996...
