An enterprising terrorist could get a press pass as a BLOGGER!

I'm actually not kidding. Like Gee is saying, it wouldn't be hard to infiltrate a stadium through official means.

OK...say some jackball walks into Old Trafford and blows up the whole of Manchester United along with quite a few supporters. Let's say AQ takes responsibility for such an act. I don't believe for a minute that there would be celebratory orgies in the streets of the Muslim world.
Rather, those extremists would probably have to go in hiding over the level of anger that such a move would generate.

Now if some random nutter decides to act on his own and blow something in the name of Allah, there's little to be done. But, on an organizational level, I don't think any group leadership would order an attack on a live sporting event because of what problems it may cause for the structure and finances of the group.

And that would only be the third worst thing to ever happen to Man U right?

It would be a lot less hard just to buy a ticket, and it wouldn't leave a paper trail.

Actually attending the event is unnecessary. Two hints: Underground parking garages and did you ever see security when fans are LEAVING an event?

Toss up for first between Busby Babes and the bombing of OT in WWII.

It's funny (not really) that we have all this ridiculous security at airports still when there are so many "soft targets" for terrorists to go after.

After 9/11, the other passengers on the plane are literally security enough. Before 9/11, when terrorists hijacked a plane, there was an expectation that the hostages would survive after a long ordeal involving demands, etc.

That expectation is GONE. 9/11 was a one-shot deal. No airliner will ever be hijacked again. Passengers, with no expectation of survival if they follow the terrorists orders, have nothing left to fear and will attack rather than sit by passively.

Terrorists have plenty more options with better chances of success than airliners.

Exactly. Who is going to get closer scrutiny, the 200 people entering on media credentials or the 60,000 entering on tickets?

So terrorists are OK with killing small children on buses and subways, but they draw the line at the Orioles-Royals?
