If you missed it, KFC restaurants in the UK ran out of chicken last week.

    Fantastic apology: "FCK, we're sorry."

It's just phenomenal on so many levels.

KFC's cheeky apology for chicken crisis

That's terrible. The creator of that ad should be fired.

Was driving to Vegas with a friend in '92 ... high desert ... stop in Taft to get some KFC ... order some chicken at the drive-thru ... they say they've run out of chicken.

    You don't have chicken?

Sorry, we've run out of chicken?

    No chicken whatsoever?

Sorry, we don't have any more chicken.

Not a spare leg or thigh? Nothing?

Sorry, but we ran out of chicken.

Rinse and repeat a few more times.

Where were you driving to Vegas from? Lake Tahoe?

Same diff. SLO is fifteen minutes from Tahoe.

If you had to pass through Vegas on your way to Tahoe, is Tahoe still 15 minutes away?

Are you joking? I think it's a stroke of genius. They turned a big screwup into a great marketing opportunity by making fun of themselves. As corporate apologies go, this is a Hall of Fame move.

One of the most effective ads I’ve ever seen was a banner hanging on a Vegas hotel. In enormous letters, it advertised the British-based clothing company French Connection. It said:

    FCUK

In Ireland FCEK t-shirts were everywhere.

A bit off topic, but in that story --- if there's a worse trend in online journalism anymore than "Here's a story, now let's jam 10 random people's useless tweets on the bottom," I'm yet to see it.
