Maybe he meant that it would work for Mizzou.

    Maybe it means playing defense...

Teams that play Texas Tech should watch the 2006 Cotton Bowl against Alabama to see how to stop the Red Raiders. I think that game is what got Joe Kines the DC job at Texas A&M.

Of course, it helped that Alabama had six future NFL players on its defense that year, including the entire secondary.

One of those meaningless, rhetorical questions pondered so often by sports speakers:

Were they to play, would the 2005 Alabama team have beaten this highly-ranked 2008 Alabama team?
    The world will never know.

I'd take a Nick Saban-coached Alabama team over a Mike Shula-coached Alabama team any day of the week, regardless of the relative talent levels of the two teams.

The rest of the SEC would much rather play the Shula team, though.

Those teams tended to ... you know ... fold.

Anybody speak Pterodactyl? If so, the Tennessean might need you as a translator ...

    That's just odd...

Especially when you're putting up huge numbers against Nebraska. I went to a Tech/Nebraska game in Lubbock in the mid-90s and Osborne never had ANY reservations about hanging 75 on another team. It was a slaughter. These past years, when they've been losing by big margins...it's been a long time coming.

Is this theoretical game being played before or after Tyrone Prothro's leg bones got turned into confetti? Because afterwards, Bama's offense couldn't tow the ball into the end zone with a fleet of Peterbilts.

Probably the '08 team wins comfortably regardless, with Mount Cody caving in the '05 offensive line with its piss-poor bucket step technique. But Demeco Ryans was badass that year, and I never understood how he dropped to the second round.

    Valid points -- especially Prothro...
