OK, I screwed up. Rocky Long has resigned as head coach at New Mexico but says he wants to remain in football as a coordinator. He'll have no trouble finding a job because he's an outstanding coach. .

Good coach, better guy. No matter what week I'm writing about him.

Unfortunately, I find myself surrounded by people who can't get AP style correct. Sometimes a fella's gotta lead by example. :p :D

Long should have no problem finding a job as a DC whether its the Big 12 or the Pac 10, there are some sorry ass defenses in those conferences. The Lobos only gave up 30 points once this year (to Tulsa (56)) and held BYU (21), TCU (26) and Utah (13) in losses.

Tech @ Oklahoma will be one for the record books.

    Early line is OU -7.

I would expect that to be around 4.5 or 5 by game-time.

Intrigued by the o/u; Has there ever been a 90?

    My gut says 49-42 Tech.

Will probably go higher than that.

Florida State safety Darius McClure is out for the season after injuring his knee while celebrating an interception last week.

Myron Rolle will probably miss half of this week's game with Maryland ... he has a Rhodes scholarship interview.

Oh, and there's MAC football tonight. Woohoo.

The dummy announcing the CMU/Ball State game just blamed the snowy condition on the lake effect.

Ummmm, Mt. Pleasant is at least 120 miles from any Great Lake. Good research there.

CMU needs to stop scheduling teams like Georgia. They need to schedule more manageable opponents like Northwestern or Kentucky. A easier schedule and they would be ranked like Utah, Boise or Ball State.

Whoever is doing PBP on Ball State-Central Michigan, along with CMU grad Ray Bentley, is doing the worst announcing job I've ever heard out of an ESPN announcing crew.

The nearest water to Mt. Pleasant is a pond outside Soaring Eagle Casino...
