Favre done?

If the Bears aren't coming off three peak games and aren't forced to play on a Monday night in the Miami humidity, the Bears don't lose that game. The schedule's the schedule, they played it, and the Bears got run off their feet, but that result was attributable as much to the conditions as to the competition.

The '85 Bears would have crushed the '72 Dolphins on a neutral. It would have been comical.

Marino had nothing but his stats... That's why he practically cried on TV after Favre broke all of them...

A lot of fans and critics wanted the Packers to repeat, hence that little problem you mentioned.

Elway had a lot more figured out the last couple of times he went to the Super Bowl. I don't like him either and he was better during the latter parts of his career, but the way Mike Shanahan put the offense in Terrell Davis' hands, I can't suddenly scream that Elway was the savior. Sorry ...

It's pretty sad that Marino's best win came in the regular season... :)

    Mizzou, see what you started?

Samn, no offense meant here, but I think Favre over Montana is every bit as comical as some of the other lists so far. In their primes, I'd take Montana over Marino, too. You have to remember, he spent a very good chunk of his career making Dwight Clark and Freddie Solomon look good. He did a lot of his damage without Jerry Rice. He had the great numbers, the dramatic comebacks and the championships.

The '85 Bears would have blown the '72 Dolphins to Bolivian. [/MikeTyson] Bob Griese would have been a grease spot on the turf of the Orange Bowl and Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris would have been bloodied while not averaging two years a carry.

The humidity didn't beat the Bears. Short, quick passes, a QB who would stand in the pocket and face the heat and a lucky bounce helped Marino. But still ... no one else on these lists could have stood up to that woodchipper defense. Yeah, Mizzou ... stats really helped Marino in that game, didn't they?

If he actually retires, bye Brett. Don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you.

And John Madden can retire his knee pads and his lack of gag reflex.

Hey if anyone disrespects the greatness that is Joe Montana, I get violent... :)

The rest can battle it out to be No. 2...

You make a great point... Montana won two titles without Rice. Everybody likes to say, "Well, anyone could win in that offense..." The argument is complete bullshit...

Well, we all saw what happened when Montana turned Marino into his bitch during the Super Bowl...

No, Joe Montana beat the Dolphins' defense, not Dan Marino ...

Ben_Hecht, are you kidding? The humidity on a Monday night? Been working on that pathetic excuse for 22 years? It was just a tough matchup and Marino played well.

Sam, you really aren't giving Montana his due. Short, quick passes under pressure? That plays well to what Montana's strengths were.

Good riddance. Though it's doubtful any broadcast can ever be what it should.
