To complement the song lead-in thread, I'm wondering about your favorite song ending.

I'm not talking about an instrumental or vocal that goes to the fade out (like with Freebird, Springsteen's Thunder Road, any number of pop songs, etc.).

I'm talking about a definite fixed ending, like the bird chirp on Layla, or the piano on Springsteen's Jungleland, or the guitar on Born to Run.

So SportsJournalists.com nation -- have at it..

Two that immediately come to mind for me:

"Where The Streets Have No Name", U2. The Edge's work to close out the song is a perfect bookend to the intro, which I also listed on the best intro thread.

"Moonlight Mile", Rolling Stones. The strings to close it out are a wonderful cap to a beautiful song, with the final notes rising just a bit in timbre as an exclamation point.

Does "A Day in the Life" — where the end is the beginning and the beginning is the end — count?

    Pearl Jam- Alive.

Great guitar riff at the end.

You know what Pearl Jam -Black has a cool ending.

It always makes me think of the Bill Simmons line.

The song is being sung to Darko by Joe Dumars

"I know someday you'll have a beautiful life, I know you'll be a star. In someone else's eyes. Why, why can't it be mine."

First two that come to mind are songs with great openings: "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who and "Rock And Roll" by Zeppelin.

The end of AC/DC's Night Prowler:

    "Shazbut. Nanu, nanu."

--Just Dropped In, Kenny Rogers and the First Edition
    --Strawberry Fields, Beatles
    --Working Man, Rush

Most obnoxious ending: I'll Supply the Love, Toto. Same riff for about two minutes

I always love the instrumental part of "November Rain".

"Antichrist Television Blues" - The Arcade Fire (picks up speed, then stops on a dime)

"Song 2" - Blur (Oh yeah!)

"Stan" - Eminem (Come to think about it ... it was you. Damn)

"Bohemian Rhapsody" - Queen (Any way the wind blows ... GONG!)

"Paper Boats" - Nada Surf (Not necessarily the "end," but the last verse gets me every time)
