Agreed on the Marx Bros., Hitchcock and Kurosawa films. Hard to argue with any of those.

    Others:

    Bridge to the Sun
    Casablanca
    Stalag 17
    On the Waterfront
    Guns of Navarone
    Dr. Strangelove
    Dracula :D

"Guess Who's Coming to Dinner" (1967) and "A Raisin in the Sun" (1961) are two of my faves.

Guess that means I'm a Poitier fan. ;)

I highly recommend "A Face in The Crowd" with Andy Griffith as a hillbilly/rogue turned national political commentator. It's an Elia Kazan film that also features Walter Matthau as a writer. It's a movie you'll see and wonder why you hadn't seen it sooner.

Those are just a few. I am also addicted to TCM.

Don't know many old movies, but I did think of some old ladies I've snogged...

On topic (haven't read whole thread), but Rebel Without A Cause is good. James Dean was a bad-ass...

Can't believe no one has mentioned His Girl Friday, or that it took so long to mention The Philadelphia Story.

One more Cary Grant/Katharine Hepburn Classic: Bringing Up Baby.

And while we're on Cary Grant: Father Goose.

Others that haven't been mentioned (I don't think):
    Mr. Roberts
    Some Like It Hot
    Animal Crackers
    All About Eve
    Spartacus

BTW, Casablanca is still the greatest movie ever made.

    Pre-1970, geniuses.

Unless you were talking about the original 1944 Short Circuit, Mike. In that case, my apologies.
