Cheer, cheer, for old Notre Dame!

And why is Boomer Sooner on there? Don't the lyrics go something like this?:

    Boomer Sooner
    Boomer Sooner
    Boomer Sooner
    Boomer Sooner

    (repeat)

Yep, you got it. Except the obnoxiousness of it can't really be translated via computer.

    I'm a Sooner born
    I'm a Sooner Bred
When I die I'll be a Sooner dead
    Rah, O.K., Rah, O.K.
    Ray O.K. (hold the note)
    O.K.U.!!

My favorites are Washington (Bow Down to Washington), California, Iowa, and ND (my high school's fight song).

In the Tennessee baseball press box, I mentioned I was tired of "Rocky Top." The official scorer sighed and grunted, "Rocky Top isn't even in Tennessee. It's in North Carolina."

You could tell he was sick of it too.

Those Sooner lyrics are akin to the UNC fight song.

I am Tar Heel born and Tar Heel bred and when I die I'll be Tar Heel dead.

My high school used it, too. But it's not my favorite. No one here should be surprised that this is ...

My association with the University of Memphis is limited to the three or four times I've happened to end up at the NCAA tournament sites where they've played. But I always enjoy that "I'm so glad I went to U of M" song they do. Not sure if it's a fight song or what, but it's cool. It sounds so genuine, so soulful, and so unlike the fella preening on the sidelines in front of the Tigers' bench.

That's the thing about Hail, there's very little middle ground. you love it or you hate it. obviously, I'm the latter.

  9. Maybe it's because I grew up in Oklahoma, where you hear it constantly, but I HATE Boomer Sooner.
First, there are basically only two lyrics and two notes.
Plus it seems to be about the only song the OU band knows, so you hear about 11ty billion times a game.
And it's actually stolen from Yale's "Boola Boola."
Considering all the history and everything, I don't know how you top Notre Dame's song -- and I HATE the Fighting Irish.

The Minnesota Rouser and the Michigan State fight song are the two that I'm partial to.

I tried to access this link and it said I was forbidden. Is it because I am no longer partial to the Jayhawks?

I voted Rocky Top, with Notre Dame victory a close second.

i don't find Hail to the Victors all that special, personally.
