This may have been covered on other threads, but what the hell?

What's your favorite, Christmas or holiday song and by whom?

I love Santa Claus is Coming to Town by Springsteen, but my favorite may be Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) by U2.

I don't really like U2 that much, but Bono wails it.

I'll be Home for Christmas - doesn't matter if its the Miller ad with the sleigh riding through town, Mathis, The Carpenters, Bing or whomever. It always works for me.

I'm sure it was done last year and the year before that and the year before that....

Which means there's no reason it shouldn't be done again this year.

Current champion: Barenaked Ladies/Sarah McLachlan - God Rest ye Merry Gentlemen

No.1 contender: Lisa Marie Presley - Silent Night (seriously. great U2 type feel to this version)

Previous champ: Kinks - Father Christmas

    "The Chipmunk Song." ;D

I do love that song, along with a handful of others, but my favourite is probably "Silent Night."

Every time I hear it, no matter who is performing it, I think of my dad and the story he told me about Christmas night in 1951 in Korea, when the fighting stopped and someone started to sing "Silent Night." Soon everyone was singing it.

I know the story doesn't compare to playing soccer in No Man's Land during the First World War, but it's a special story to me......and so is that song.

"O Holy Night" is one of my all-time favourite Classical pieces to sing. Secular favourites are "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "The Christmas Song".

And just cause it's Christmas, I'll share this:

I love O Holy Night if someone just belts it out and doesn't try to put a Mariah Carey or Celine Dion treatment on it.
