Favorite book as a child

    Well, okay I was 9 when I found Dad's copy. But it was still some of the fondest memories of... erm, reading... that I can recall. I also still remember the beating I took when Dad found out where his magazine went, as I'm sure he remembers how pissed Mom was at him.

    Never read it, but as a kid, I read the sequel to it, where Roy Tucker gets hurt on a combat mission during WWII and makes a comeback.

    Few days ago, I stumbled on the sequel again, and I'm enjoying reading it even more as an adult.

    As a kid, a few other favorites:

    "The Pokey Little Puppy."

    "The Hotel Cat"

    "The Cricket in Times Square" (and its sequels, "Tucker's Countryside" and "Harry Cat's Pet Puppy."

    I re-read my dog-eared copy of "Tomkinsville" a couple years ago, and I was amazed at how well it held up. Great story.
