Some overall thoughts from the young'un of the group: When I stepped off the plane on Thursday night I was nervous and not really sure what to expect for my first time hanging out for an extended period with people from the site. I arrived at the bar that night long after everyone else had started (about 12 hours after joe began) and feebly attempted to catch up with them. I used buckdub and Cadet as a safety net of sorts since I had met them before, but by the end of the night I realized that this was an awesome group of people and was excited for the next two days.

I had reason to be excited as I had a blast. Many of the great quotes and moments have been recounted here already. One of the ones that hasn't is a comment by joe in regards to how young I am. There were many comments about how I old I was when others in the group were going through certain points in their lives or when songs came out. The best, though, was from joe: "Shit, I had sex before you were born...A LOT." - to which we considered the fact that joe is in fact my father. Him: "Only me and your mom know the truth."

I'd have to say the best comedic performance of the weekend was 'gola! on Friday night. From: "Fuck Indiana and all its Steelers fans" to digging for gold to flagging a cab more aggressively than I've seen anyone do before it was quite the tour de force.

By Saturday night the group was extremely comfortable with each other. I was at Arnold's for about an hour and a half before heading for the airport and we were laughing the whole time. I'm so glad I decided to go and ended up having lots of fun and I'm determined to get to next year's outing. For those who are unsure about attending, just go and I bet you'll end up enjoying the experience.

And major pros again to Arnie and his wife for being great hosts Saturday and to lono for picking up lunch for the group at the 5 Point.

All-in-all: Seattle's a great city, SJ is filled with awesome people and this was the best darn "journalism conference" one could attend.

Poor Sportschick woke up to a string of expletives that would have made a sailor blush when I realized I had overslept and nearly blew my Father's Day present. Sorry for the rude awakening, Chickie!

As some of you had heard, my parents were in Seattle. They live nowhere near Seattle, but were there to board a ship for their once-in-a-lifetime Alaskan cruise to celebrate retirement. Of course they had no idea we were going to be in Seattle (I don't tell them when I attend "journalism conferences"), so I arranged with my mom to surprise my dad for breakfast before heading to the airport this morning.

We were only 20 minutes late, but the effort was worth it: My dad had tears in his eyes and the best look on his face when he saw us in the lobby of their hotel. As a daddy's girl through and through (he gave me the nickname Cadet), it was the best thing I could have done today.

More Seattle thoughts and observations TK. But I'm sad to be home.
