    He is Earle Bruce’s grandson. Not in any way defending Meyer. But that’s why he stuck his neck out in this situation.

    In some cases and places, “administrative leave” is merely the procedural, legally obligatory precursor to termination. But the fact that they allowed Meyer to put out a statement— at least something with his name on it — tells me they’re going to let this play out and gauge the backlash.

    This afternoon, someone using a fake Brett McMurphy account — slight spelling change in name but using McMurphy’s ESPN mug shot as avatar — tweeted that Meyer had resigned. Retweets abounded.
