The museum was opened long before Yogi and George made up. George made a donation after they reconciled but had nothing to do with the actual building and opening of the museum.

The Fat Man has treated too many little people like shit.

It's all you really need to know.

It's funny Jacobson and Murray Chass are 2 peas in a pod. They are still obsessed with hating The Boss and can't let it go.

May I suggest that Berra's feelings for the institution that is the New York Yankees, pride, respect, etc, outweigh any animosity he might have for Steinbrenner? The Yankees will outlive them both, and Berra deserves credit for recognizing that it's stupid to be alienated from something of which he is a major part just because one temporal owner treated him like shit.
Besides, he worked for George Weiss, and that may have been worse.

Yeah, but he also held the grudge for 14 years.

OK, he did. But the mortality of an enemy is as much a reminder of one's own mortality as that of a friend. People burying hatchets when they get really old is as old as humanity.

I understand why Yog eventually broke down.

But at least he had the standards to call a skunk a skunk, for all those years.

You stand for everything, you stand for nothing.

George would never, ever understand something as subtle as that.

And remember, when Suzyn Waldman started brokering this reconciliation, Yogi told her George had to come meet him at the museum in NJ and apologize for the way he fired him all those years ago...then they could talk.

That was the year Suzyn was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, I believe.

THAT should be next year's Yankees radio team.
