I love comic book movies, but that trailer didn't give me anything we haven't seen before. Silver Surfer doesn't look much better than the T-1000 from T2 and that came out in like 1991.

Factor in the mediocrity of the first FF and I'm not exactly rushing out to see this. Spider Man 3 looks much better.

No doubt about that. Spider's probably going to be tons better, but Silver Surfer looks pretty damn good!

The best part of that trailer was seeing comedian Brian Posehn as the priest performing the wedding.

Um, the second F is for four, so FF4 is redundant. :)

I didn't mind the first one, but it's not the same class with teh Spider-Man movies. Though I give it points for having Jessica Alba. Kirsten Dunst is pretty, but she's not on Ms. Alba's level, nor is she able to pass for supermodel (which Mary Jane was in the comics).

I'll admit that I have never read a single comic book in my entire life, but I always thought that silver surfer was a good guy.

I'm not really up on Silver Surfer lore, but IIRC, he came to earth as a henchman of some Big Time badass space villain, but eventually turned on his master and helped out the FF. Not sure if they're going to do that in this movie, because I think he's been bad and good during different storylines over the years.

I agree with Pern, the effects look exactly like T2. I'm not impressed.

  11. Riddick: You are correct. I do love you. Thanks for that. I agree with you, it looks, well, fantastic. I must admit, however, I forget just what exactly the Silver Surfer is. I know he is an advance scout for that giant planet eater dude. Care to detail the SS back story?

Silver Surfer was initially the herald of Galactus, the "planet-eating guy," and then he turned on his master and helped save the Earth. He's mostly been a hero, but not always.

I know more, but I think it just gives non-comics fans headaches when I try to explain this stuff. If you really want details, try a wikipedia search. The site is usually pretty good for comic book info.
