Falling asleep in the press box

Not sure what board this should fall under, but ...

At a college football game this past Saturday, a writer from a web site fell asleep during the first quarter. No problem, I guess, except this person wasn't sitting in the seat assigned to the hometown newspaper.

I'm not sure, but I think the writer moved elsewhere to doze off before finally heading to the properly assigned seat, whereupon the writer's press credential was revoked and the writer was escorted out of the press box by security.

Anyone ever see something happen like this before? I've never seen a credential revoked mid-game (at halftime, in this case).

  2. Never seen it, but also have never been in a pressbox.

But I'm responding because I don't understand the two sentences I quoted. The Web site guy WAS sitting in the wrong seat? Someone else was sitting in HIS seat? Please clarify for the idiots in the room! Danka.

I took a nap in the auxiliary press box at the Texas State Track and Field Meet last year. Of course, the press box I was in was just a tent on top of a parking garage and it was about 80 degrees with 100 percent humidity and I was tired.

No one seemed to care, though one guy must have liked my idea, because he took a nap after I woke up.

I was wondering about that, too. I'm assuming the guy who fell asleep was in the wrong seat.

How the hell do you fall asleep in the press box at a football game?

Edit: Angola, that's different. I'm amazed I haven't fallen asleep at a track meet.

Sorry for the confusion. Web site person was sitting in the hometown paper's spot. As far as I know, no one was in the web site person's seat. Then the web site person eventually made it to the correct seat, whereupon press pass revoked (I think the web site person went to a second incorrect seat to doze off, but I can't swear to it.)

Hopefully that makes sense. Maybe I need to doze off.

Was Web site person drunk? Why didn't they just go to their own seat and doze off?

  7. I saw a guy's credential revoked mid-game because the SID saw he was wearing flip-flops in the press box.

Do press boxes have dress codes?

I've been naked many times in a press box and it's never been an issue.
