Calhoun gets off with a slap of the wrist and Pearl gets left twisting in the wind for at least another 6 months. Go figure.

Tennessee has been in trouble before. They proved they don't care by hiring slippery coaches like Lane Kiffin and Bruce Pearl. They have had problems following rules in every program.

This is very simple - a text book case for athletic department death penalty.

The athletic department should have to shut down for two years and reopen two years from now with half the allotted scholarships allowed in all of their sports and not be able to be fully reinstated to their full alloted scholarships for five years.

Anything short of that and the NCAA will again be a fraud.

Either you really are interested in enforcing rules or you are not.

The Connecticut situation is even more ridiculous - the coach gets a meaningless three game suspension and you can't accept money from a certain booster (who I am sure has a friend he can funnel money to UConn through....)

According to the notice of allegations, Pearl was interviewed on June 14 and provided false information about being photographed with current Ohio State freshman point guard Aaron Craft in the coach's home. Pearl denied knowledge of the photo. Pearl also denied knowing the other person in the photo, who was the wife of Shay.

How was Pearl a slippery coach when he was hired at UT after spending years in low-mid-major exile for playing by the rules?

Which makes him look like even more of a scumbag and a hypocrite considering the situation when he turned in Illinois or whoever it was all those years back.

And I'm sorry, when he was at Iowa-Plateville or wherever the fuck it was, I had the occassion to interview him several times and every time I came away with the same impression "this guy is a fast-talking snake in the same mold as a John Calipari" There is no way you will convince me that Tennessee didn't know this was at least a possibility when they hired this guy.
