Wasn't this just posted a month or so ago?

I actually interviewed here once more than five years ago. They didn't want anyone writing columns (apparently someone before had written something about how Michigan was better than Ohio State and readers went ballistic).

Don't know if they still have that rule tho.

They did actually pay for a nights stay at the hotel, dinner and gas, which was kinda surprising for a small paper.

Apparently I wasn't qualified enough... at 24... without a journalism degree.... and two years of college newspaper experience.

    weird.

Don't be worried. Blessing in disguise.

Heartland. There's a dealbreaker right there. After their slash-and-burn routine throughout North Carolina - and their disgusting treatment of people in Mount Airy - forget this company.

Who owns these guys? What size paper and staff is it?

You can find the owners name in the post right above yours. The ad link three posts above yours also answers how big the staff is.

Paper isn't listed on the ABC site, but it's less than 25K.

Circulation is a little less than 14,000 ... at last check. That's all I got.

As stated earlier, interviewed there a number of years ago, but it wasn't Heartland at the time.

The town is a dump, lots of vacant buildings. Portsmouth people go to Chillicothe to have fun and Chillicothe isn't exactly a booming metropolis.

Chillicothe has some cool old buildings or did when I was in the area last. Beyond that, there isn't much.

    There's even less in Portsmouth.
