    Description:
    The Kennebec Journal/Morning Sentinel seeks an executive sports editor to lead, coach and develop our eight-person sports staff. The editor will be a jack of all trades, overseeing the sports gathering and operations while producing engaging, active and interesting pages and compelling content for our Web sites. The sports editor will paginate and design pages, and will write occasional columns, features and game stories. Our goal is to become a top-10 Sports section for newspapers our size in the U.S. The ideal candidate will have a sports or news background and knowledge of AP style and current events. Supervisory skills are preferred, but the candidate must have the ability to coach and collaborate and possess strong communication skills, with 5+ years in daily newspaper or Web site journalism.
