    Job Requirements This senior leadership position reports directly to the Publisher. Ideal candidate will be an experienced and proven group leader with ability to manage team. Must have sports experience, martial arts interest and knowledge a plus. Must be an excellent writer with the ability to drive the creation of content across all branded channels. Strong oral communication skills and the ability to represent the brand with integrity, inclusiveness and a personal dynamic that resonates with the reader and advertiser community.

    Areas of Responsibility:

    Assist in the development and execution of an effective editorial strategy.
    Develop and adhere to editorial budget
    Produce and direct the production of world-class, on-brand copy.
    Understand and deliver on your readers needs.
    Deliver a best in class, continually improving editorial product.
    Make sure the magazine stays on track with the production cycle and
    Edit copy and pages in progress where necessary.
    Work with the sales and advertising department when necessary.
    Work with Creative Director to deliver appropriate, professionally crafted layouts.
    Recognize your staffs strengths and weaknesses and work to get the best from them.
    Develop and maintain productive industry, PR and commercial relationships.
    Represent the magazine at exhibitions.
    Direct web efforts including content and development.
    Make yourself available to other media for interviews, appearances etc to help build the image of the magazine brand as a respected authority.
    Ensure optimal workflow and commissioning practices and hit appropriate deadlines.
    Work in partnership with publisher, advertising to deliver on agreed targets.
    Be responsible for the overall quality of any content associated with your brand, for example, magazine, events, marketing, etc

    Required Skills:

    must have experience in sports related field (martial arts interest a plus)
    Excellent editing & writing skills
    Experience and knowledge in modern web practices
    Ability to supervise & mentor professional staff & freelancers, including editors, writers, curriculum developers & creative team.
    Develop & update strategic plan to identify new opportunities and improve current processes for the brand.
    Improve current products & develop new ones, including Magazine, online, print & video
    Evaluate competition on a regular basis
    achelors degree and minimum 5 years of progressive magazine editing and management positions.
    About Our Company We are a Special Interest Media company seeking an Editorial Director/ Editor in Chief for one of our special interest sports titles. We are looking for a candidate that has experience in sports. Martial Arts and fitness interest and knowledge preferred. This key position is responsible for developing and delivering great content including but not limited to magazines, books, DVDs, events, video and Web.
