From the CoSIDA jobs bulletin board: Skip Myslenski, sports reporter for the Chicago Tribune for 30 years, named contributing writer to NUsports.com.

    (Take that, Moddy. ;D)

Good for Skip. Always enjoyed talking with him on the Big Ten trail.

Moddy, was just trying to celebrate my one and only trip down the pipeline where I was ahead of you. No offense.

Oh, none taken. Just wasn't sure what you meant.
    All good. No worries.
I thought it was something about another ex-hack going to a college. I'm a little dense.

Okay - now I feel old. I remember reading some of his books as a kid.

Ah, glad to see this. Skip is good people and probably the one guy who comes to my mind when the phrase "ink-stained wretch" is uttered (and I mean that in a good way!).

Good move for Northwestern. Curious to see if he'll do more than gamers and NU features (like college notebooks, which he did a the Trib).

A good spot for a good man. Still remember the days when I'd give Skip a lift to the arena, but have to wait for him to finish up on the treadmill. Then he'd get in the car and fire up a cigarette. Spent some good times on the road with him.

Not to wish this on the people at Northwestern but ... couldn't the Chicago Tribune have just kept Skip around and let Mariotti take the job writing for NUSports.com? [/crossthread]

It's well known that Mariotti despises Northwestern.
