ESPN where tons of money and tons of bad ideas equals a ton of bad programming.

But as long as they do a "Who's Now?" next July, I'm in.

When did figure skating become a fixture of the Summer Games?

    I'm with you.

You know what I think it should be? Programming not targeted at women-- or what they think women want-- but programming by women.

After watching the Chris/Martina doc, which was done by a pair of women... and after seeing Barbara Kopple's interview with Hal Steinbrenner... I do think very often women present a different perspective. Sometimes-- not always-- but sometimes women will see a different angle. And I suspect it's just by virtue of the fact that we are wired differently. We can't deny our differences, so why not make the most of them.

So get more women behind the camera... attack any sort of topic, be it NASCAR or NFL or anything... and watch the men (and women) tune in... as they did with the Chris/Martina doc, which I believe did a very nice rating.

    Mr Dodgen,

It started at the Summer Games and I wish it had stayed there.

Will my wife watch this? Fuck no.

Will the women I know who are legit sports fans? Fuck no.

Seriously, what on here would my wife watch?
    Figure skating? Yes
Curling, maybe. Hey, she liked it.
    Gymnastics, yes.
    hmmmm
Have I mentioned figure skating yet?

Seriously, though, if the Detroit Tigers are on and the UM softball team, are there enough women who want to watch UM softball to justify a channel?

WTSN set the bar at two years. I'd be wary about taking the over, even given ESPN's vast resources.

I can see some success with a fitness channel, not a sit-on-the-couch-and-watch channel. Get some great athletes, male and female, and create programming geared around athletic health and fitness.

That would work, but to call it ESPN would be a complete misnomer.
