Well, at least you're not overreacting to a misplaced "all" on my part by being condescending and melodramatic. (Paraphrasing Christ on the cross? Seriously?) However old you are, grow up.

I got into it for the free T-shirts and hotel towels. Is that so wrong?

Hey Buck how old were you in 1968?

    Negative-14. ;D

Don't throw the youth card at me; you've tried to do that before and failed. Just because you were alive for an event doesn't make someone an expert on it. (And I'm not claiming to be one on this subject, either.)

How old were you for it, just out of curiosity?

    I don't get it.

    It's the 40th anniversary of a memorable sports/olympic moment.
    It's an Olympic year.
The ESPYs, for better or worse, are the main yearly sports awards show.

    What's the problem?

This is a weird fucking thread.

Sig, there are plenty of individualist anarchist discussion boards on teh interweb. You'd probably have a better time over there. If I read your posts correctly, you seem to be from the "neither left nor right" sub-current of anarchist thought.

    No. 7

"I knew all" is the most revealing phrase you've typed so far. Please tell me more about '68. I'm eager to learn, even in my dotage. Such bright young things like you bring sunshine to the issues and my day.

When it comes to 1968, FoF and I are from the "You've never played the game" school of history. :)

Our friend must just have finished a 100,000 word manuscript because he's being awfully frisky.

    Mr Ragu

Honestly, I'm spellbound by youth. I've got my notebook out. Please teach me all about 1968. I mean, I went to meets that featured athletes from '68. I was about 15 feet away from Ralph Doubell when he tore his achilles in what turned out to be his last race. I talked with Willie Davenport at another meet. I took an informed interest in track but I know that the later generations can get me up to speed on things I missed when I was there--they saw the highlights! And they know all the context!

    And Mr R,

    My hi-grade Geritol just arrived.

    :-\

I'm going to bite my tongue. But I am really dismayed by the "you weren't alive, so you can't KNOW" card. Y'all are better than this. I mean that.
