That's quite a generalization. Wright Thompson, Tom Friend, etc. - that's a hell of a staff of writers they've assembled.

I actually like the Mag, and liked this feature, if only in theory. Just found that figure laughable. It'd be like writing "NFL player:$6-million." Yes, there's somebody out there, but he isn't exactly the reference point.

I fear the j-schools of America are being overrun with aspiring high school seniors who have now cast aside money-driven dreams of being doctor or pro athletes. If $75k is the average, I can hit six figures by 30!

Yup. The point of this thread was awful, but there are some longer pieces - the ones that aren't just quick hits and meant for those reader with the attention span of an infant - that are well worth it.

Not a defender of ESPN as a whole - the Whitlock mess makes the WWL look like a total joke - but some of the pieces in the Mag are pretty passable.

That'll be their new ad campaign.

Glad I could be of help, Dools.

So maybe I should have gone into PR or advertising ... or do both, along with this silly sports journalism gig, to earn the type of the money the Mag says we're all earning.

You'd be amazed at the lightweights who are making $80K+ at the News.
