If Thompson did crib Tim O'Brien, I wish he'd cribbed Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong. Now that's a far-out story.

I have no issue with it if he did because it's pretty sublime.

So do the stories he filed from the World Cup last year count as more Southern (American) stories? Funny how those were left out of the google search.

I've joked about it here as well, but he's a brilliant writer, absolutely one of my favorites. The only thing he's done that I truly didn't like was the 30 for 30.

I believe Shadow Boxing is from 2009. Ghosts is from, I think, 2010. Jordan ran in 2013. How MJ turns 50 is a "southern story" I don't know, but ok.

How long does a "run" constitute?

That is always the first story I think of when TTTC is mentioned.

Yeah. I'm all for making fun of Thompson, knowing it's based on a stereotype, and not the facts. Some of the jokes are funny.

But, a "run" would indicate something that is uninterrupted, and, unless he's written nothing else in between, a list of articles from 2009-2015, does not constitute a "run".
