Coley Harvey, Florida State beat writer for the Orlando Sentinel and previously the Georgia Tech beat writer for the Macon Telegraph, will be covering the Bengals for ESPN.com

I think that's the first hire made of someone who wasn't previously covering the NFL.

Or in the team's market already.

The Steelers hire was covering Penn State. I'm not sure if he did any Steelers coverage on the side, but that would be pretty tough.

ESPN in the process of hiring the rest. Also, the release said they're making 21 hires, not the 19 previously discussed.

It is nice to see an organization that can afford to hire the best make an active effort to do so. That list is what ESPN should be running in ads against Fox, assuming Fox ever rises to that threat level, which I doubt.

Still absolutely nothing on the grapevine in Detroit. Not even a whisper of a rumor of a hire.

Scott Brown was the Steelers beat writer before taking the PSU beat, so he knows what he's doing.

Birkett would get the job done, I'd think.

With the season around the corner, kinda surprised they didn't make all their hires yet.
