And he's one of a select few well-liked Dookies.

Steve Dalkowski. Could have been unbelievable, with control.

A healthy Don Gullett puts up Steve Carlton numbers. Couple other Reds' pitchers too, Wayne Simpson and Gary Nolan, overpitched and burned out early. Wally Bunker.

Tony C and Tony Horton, already mentioned. Pete Reiser. Cecil Travis, if not for WWII. Ken Hubbs, Lyman Bostock.

    Michel Briere.

  5. Come on, Sabonis was 31 when he got to the NBA and had been playing for more than 15 years. It wasn't his fault he couldn't make it to America. And he was pretty damn good when he got here.

Great International Player. Maybe the best ever.

Similar to Kukoc and Fetisov (NHL).

Not sure what Akili Smith is doing on that list. It was absurd that he was drafted that high. He made 11 starts in college.

Size, yes. But I don't remember Lemieux playing a very physical style.

  8. The PGA is littered with Could Have Beens: Ricky Barnes, Bobby Clampett, Anthony Kim, Deane Beman, off the top of my head.

  10. Ellis Burks, Gregg Jefferies, Wally Joyner, every member of the '84 U.S. Olympic baseball team not named Mark McGwire or Barry Larkin.

I'd also argue Donnie Baseball. Mattingly will never be a HOF player despite some decent numbers.

    Frustrated baseball card collecter edition.

Will Clark had a good run, even with the back problems.
