ESPN giving NFL about $2 billion a year...

The way I understand it - it's about more than MNF, they get expanded use of replays and highlights (the goodies that feed 80 percent of their daily lineup). Still - why pay the NFL $2 bill for something the NFL is giving their network for free?

I guess so. I'm not asking them to declare the product is complete shit (which it is). But why do we learn more about Roethlisraper (the first time, anyway) on NFL Network than ESPN?

Biggest reason the NFL would never go public in a stock sense is that it would then have to be much more open in its finances, which would end the day when they're treated like state secrets.
