The report fails to mention that you're only allowed to message about the Yankees, Red Sox, Tebow, Ray Lewis and Kobe.

I always enjoyed the hyper-intelligent analysis Cosell used to provide during Battle of the Network Stars. You just can't get an intelligent discussion anymore about whether Telly Savalas was right to complain about Lynda Carter's illegal baton exchange with. LaVar Burton, and we've all lost something as a result.

That's a much better way of putting it, yes.

But ESPN is the leading provider. They are the Wal-Mart of dumb opinions. And that dumbs down sports because they have mass appeal as opposed to the niches you've been seeking out.

P.S. Double Down -- come on, you better than anyone have to appreciate the contribution of Battle of the Network Stars. Can you imagine the '70s without it?

For clarification's sake, they were arguing about an NBC baton exchange, not ABC. And Bob Conrad was being a dick, per usual. When he got put in his place in the 200 meter run-off by Mr. Kotter, it was one of the defining moments of 1970's tv.

    Totally agree on ESPN.

But dumbed down from what? I'm not convinced the bar was any higher in the 1970s. Sports commentary has always been dumb, at least to the masses.

And to think of the shitloads of money these people are making to provide us with their "expert" dump opinions.
