  1. Looks like Dallas Morning News answered the challenge and then some. They filled the two openings by bringing back two premiere guys -- Gerry Fraley and Evan Grant.
I'd say that is calling the bluff and raising.

That's awesome news. Two of the only reasons why I ever read that rag.

I'd call it just that -- a bluff. ESPN has a DEEP reservoir of resources and money.

Impressive counter-moves by DMN. Where was Evan Grant lately?

Job posting on journalismjobs.com today for an online SE at the Morning News. Be curious to see who they get.

Fraley is awesome. I had heard about Evan, but not Gerry. Very good news, and it looks like the DMN is starting to mean business again.

But what will the FWST do? Galloway can't do everything.

Spoken like a true druggie or ex druggie Ace.
But seriously, ESPN's tactics does remind you of what Wally World did to many communities.

Yup. It's nice to see that DMN countered, but in the long run, they won't stop ESPN.

Don't imagine more baseball stuff will make much difference in the general perception that DMN Sports stinks; Rangers show about 30,000 empty seats a night, even in a good year.

Interesting take on ESPN and the importance of sports to a newspaper's survival.
