    that's pretty good. In a previous life, our company took us on a plane ride on a Friday. The trip was spent telling us how good things were looking.

    Monday, massive layoffs.

    I'm still hacked off about the way it all went down.

    But we also didn't have enough revenue coming in and I knew that. I figured it would just be a matter of time.

    For far too many "radio talkers", the radio gig is the "side job". Look at a place like St. Louis where every TV and newspaper guy seems to have a show - probably pays between 25-35k a year for most of them. (the heavy hitters make far more) but, really, no job security whatsoever.

    I would hate to be a "radio guy" as my primary job. Was a great secondary gig back in the day. Only made $50 a show doing that job (for 2 hours) but we just talked about subjects I was already covering...
