error messages on Internet Explorer

Every so often on my home computer, I get an error message saying that Internet Explorer encountered an error and has to close. Then it gives you a chance to report the error.
Today, I got that message as soon as I tried opening IE. Then I got it again, and again and again and was unable to open Internet Explorer.
Most of the ways of fixing this problem seem to involve being able to get on the Internet somehow and without another browser on the computer, that's not possible.
Other than learning how to use a computer is there any way I can fix it or keep it from happening again.
And is it possible that I unknowingly did something to cause this problem?

OK, but how do I download Firefox without going through another browser?

Sign online, like on AIM, then have someone send you the file that way. Install it, and you should be set.

I owe IJAG a million thanks. I used to have issues with IE until she turned me onto Firefox. I'll never use IE again.

Have you tried clearing out your temporary internet files?
