She wasn't being mugged. She had two guys sitting in a car outside her house in the middle of the day. That situation does not rise to the level of a 911 emergency. And if the cops told her that it did, they were wrong to do so.

If someone's knocking on your door, and won't leave when you won't answer the door, then yes, you call the cops.

I consider 911 an appropriate response to any stalker situation.

How did these assholes get into a gated community in the first place?

Except for the part where she asked if the persons were white, black or Hispanic. Asians can't get any love?

She called when they were sitting in their car on the street, not when they came to her door. And from that call, there's no indication that she or her mother actually asked them to leave when they came to the door. It just doesn't sound like she really perceived it to be a real threat, just a major pain in the ass.

    1. They knocked on her door repeatedly.

    2. They finally stopped, she thought they would leave.

    3. They didn't leave.

    4. She called the cops.

2mcm is right. Any stalking situation is handled by the cops. And if you really think she should be kept prisoner in her own house, then you're an ass.

Didn't she say she thought they were papps? Which means -- I'm assuming, here, no facts -- that she must have saw them taking pictures or something. If I see people outside my house taking pictures, I'm doing what the cops tell me to and I'm calling 911.

Plus, I'm sure she knows the pulse of her gated community. If some random that she doesn't recognize is sitting in a car in front of her house, something's not right.

If she calls security, she's simply calling the people who allowed those guys into her gated community in the first place. If they couldn't prevent those guys from camping out at her house, why should she trust the security to escort them out? Calling the cops was the right move.

I was expecting the dispatcher to ask, "Do they look like Louis Gates?"

Maybe O'Bama will share a martini with Erin and her stalkers to try to settle the matter.

I see nothing either in the 911 transcript or in the news stories about it that indicates that was the sequence of events. She saw two guys camped in front of her house and she thought they were paparazzi, so she called 911. While she was on the phone with the dispatcher, they apparently came and knocked on her door. It's totally understandable that she's spooked right now, but it sounds like she had a pretty good idea that these guys were just media assholes, which is what they turned out to be. I don't think cops should be diverted from potentially real 911 emergencies for that sort of thing. Especially since she lives in a community with its own security. I'm pretty sure if Erin Andrews calls security and says she needs to have a couple of guys shooed away from her house, she'll get a pretty quick response. Again, I understanded she's frazzled right now, but that was a bit of an overreaction.
