Energy used by Gore’s home in past year could power 232 homes for a month

Discussion in 'Sports and News' started by pressboxramblings07, Jun 18, 2008.

  1. Al Gore should be living in a hollowed out log! [colbert]

Anything else and he's a HYPOCRITE! yay!

Gore is an idiot. He is the wrong man to be point on this topic.

Part of conserving energy is living in a space that suits your needs. I'm guessing he does not have too many kids living at home.

Trust me, I have a dog in this fight.

"In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 232 average American households for a month."

The people that wrote this are idiots and slantists as well.

They are comparing a year to a month for a sexier number.

"In the past year, Gore’s home burned through 213,210 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, enough to power 19 average American households for a year."

Doesn't sound the same, does it?

Actually, Gore's house uses so much energy in a year that it could fuel 7,192 houses for a day.

Or I could light a room with one compact fluorescent light bulb for the next 1,058 years.

It is a totally misleading stat. But for someone who wants to be the face of the environmental movement in this country, it still makes him look like a giant hypocrite.

    Yep.

But Ed Begley is a dork.

    I know, so is Gore.

At least Ed Begley is a dork who we see driving an electric car on the news.

What Gore did would be the equivalent of Begley driving a Hummer down Robertson.

    Sorry,

I don't care how rich he is, that is still the height of hypocrisy.

And I would vote for him as president at any opportunity.

Yeah, writing, I see what you're saying. But I don't think ANYONE'S wrapped up in this. Saying I think he's a hypocrite on a message board is different from people picketing his house.

It's a story. I saw it, I think it makes him a hypocrite (thanks Jemele!) and then we all move on. No one's freaking out.

Well, not picketing his house... But there is some group that denies global warming that has plans to fly a 70-foot hot air balloon over his house tomorrow.

Newsflash: None of this means climate change isn't happening.
