It's an evil David Stern plot. He's planting the seeds for an NBA Europe takeover.

Anytime you can implement "planting seeds" and "NBA" in the same sentence, it's a winner.

He probably thinks he is just going to smoke the European players.

I know this isn't likely, but wouldn't it be cool if basketball eventually had a soccer-like Champions League? The game might one day get global enough for that to happen.

It's damn near there now in terms of talent. The only thing that keeps it from happening is jet lag. The Champions League spans only four time zones (like the continental U.S.). Add six hours of travel (in either direction) to that.

  6. Dominique took the money and headed to Europe when he was still a very good player. Danny Ferry went when he was the No. 2 pick. It didn't start a flood of NBA-caliber players leaving the U.S. for Europe.

The problem, though, with the "exodus" is that Delfino, Nachbar, Brezec are, you know, from Europe.

When LeBron signs with Benetton Treviso, then I'll start worrying.

The weak dollar and Russian oligarchs are good news for middling NBA players.
