FWIW, this is the paper that I've been with for 10+ years, most of them with KYSportsWriter (who still works here). Staffer leaving accepted a sports editor's job. PM me or KYSportsWriter for more info. Although most of responsibilities revolve around the seven high schools in our tri-county coverage area, we do cover some Louisville, Kentucky and Western Kentucky men's basketball and football.

    That being said ...

Groth leaving The Paper, moving to Ky. newspaper
    The Paper

Sports Editor John Groth is in his last week at The Paper and will be missed by those who know him.

Groth came to The Paper from the Johnson County Daily Journal in Franklin more than four years ago.

"John has grown and matured during his time here," said Editor Frank Phillips. "Very few people understand the kind of hours a small-newspaper sports editor puts in and we are grateful to John for his hard work, his dedication and his commitment. We wish him all the best with his new job at a bigger paper in Kentucky. We know he'll do great."

Groth will join the sports department of the News Enterprise in Elizabethtown, Ky., a newspaper with a circulation of 20,000.

"Thank you for treating me well," Groth said when asked if he had any parting comments for Montgomery County. "Keep reading The Paper of Montgomery County."

Groth's last day here will be Friday.
