A lack of concentration on a pass is a lot different than attention span (it's not like he's getting distracted by pretty shapes in the clouds while going over the middle).

Taking your eye off the ball is lacking concentration, but I doubt that a person's level of intelligence has anything to do with that. If intelligence were such a big factor on the field, the Ivy League would be a part of the BCS. There are plenty of athletes who are dumb, but who excel at their sport.

 

I think you're right in theory. But Shockey is so dumb (note: not OUR Shockey) and so selfish that when he's not the focus of the offense, his concentration wanes b/c he can't handle NOT being the center of attention.

This would have been a great trade for the Giants even if all they got was a conditional ninth-round draft pick. They never would have won the title with him bitching and moaning throughout the playoffs.

 

Great move for NO ... go ahead and hand them the NFC South.
