I'm sorry. I'm not seeing a problem here.

Now that he's a teenager, shouldn't Elian be playing on some 12-and-under little league team in the US by now?

If you want to get really picky about it, the Miami branch of la familia Gonzalez was trying to steal a child from the custodial parent.

This is one issue where I've always parted company with conservatives, and I'm stunned they don't take the opposite view.
First of all, the only reason the jack-booted thugs had to do this was because the family in Miami wouldn't give the kid back to his only living parent. It wasn't even a matter of a custody situaiton between two parents, long before that point. The kid's father was all he had, and there was no evidence that he was an abusive father. Indeed, the Miami relatives praised the father. He wanted his son back. He wanted to live in Cuba. Guess what Armchair? You or I or the U.S. government don't get to make that call for him. He does. And whether he wants to be a communist or have his kid become a communist is, again, none of your beeswax.

Given Jeffrey Jones' arrest on child porn charges a few years ago, that's kind of a creepy reference:

Jeez, Armchair, you need to look up the definition of "kidnapping." Because the only ones that might fits that definition here are the people the govt was taking the kid from. The govt was trying to return him to his lawful custodial parent. Not sure why you can't grasp that.

Obviously sending in "jack booted thugs" looked awful, especially since it got videotaped and worldwide media distribution. But you had a situation where these people were unlawfully withholding a child from his parent in open defiance of ct orders in multiple countries. They tried asking and pleading--that didn't work. Not sure how many other options they had--eventually they were going to have no choice but to take the child back forcefully.

He was a wuss on the diamond. Raul said "Well shit. All we can do is milk the kidnapping issue for all its worth. Anyone who puts that boy in a position of being baseball ambassador will be shot."

    Then again...

Since he loved PlayStation games in the states, he could have been hell in one of those national video game tournaments. Oh how we've been cheated.

What?? Someone who lives in a country where the Communist Party is the only legal party became a communist? You don't say!
