The problem with Hickenlooper in this campaign is that he virtually did nothing. He didn't campaign super hard, he didn't do a lot of one-on-one interviews, relying on stump speeches and the debates. And Tancredo just comes across as more open and honest, says exactly what he's thinking. Usually not a good thing, but people are finding it refreshing and have found Hickenlooper to be "another politician."

One middle-of-the-road pollster predicted yesterday that based on recent Colorado voter guides the past decade that Tancredo would win. If he does, it would be one of the most stunning comebacks ever. He only got into the race in August because he knew the two running for the Republican nomination were severely flawed (they were) and had no chance against Hickenlooper. Told them they needed to get out for a Republican who could actually win or he was staying in. They didn't get out, so he stayed.

The Dems paid more attention to the Senate race here and other governor's races, thinking this one was in the bag for Hickenlooper. And Hickenlooper vowed at the beginning to not run one negative ad (he hasn't), so there has been no push-back on Tancredo's record. Tancredo has gone after Hickenlooper and Maes with effective ads that has resonated from the Western Slope to the Eastern Plains, it appears.

It's going to be a wild night here.

Hope this means in a few hours the robocalls will stop.

Can't believe anyone thinks these are more effective than annoying, and can't believe it's even allowed in a country that offers donotcall.gov for its citizens.

I said more than two years ago that whoever won would be a one-term president. Just too much negative momentum to be able to reverse in four years. It took Reagan two years to stop the bleeding and reverse the disaster of the late 70s.

Am I missing something on the Colorado race? I thought Buck was the favorite. Silver has him projected to win.

Am I getting my races mixed up? I think I must be.

It's pretty close, with Buck a slight favorite but it's within the margin of error. I think Buck will win, but it will be close.

You know, if *just* enough of us in the Palmetto State vote the right way, we could soon bring the nation ... nay, the world ... the joy that would be ...

The Honorable Gentleman from South Carolina except when he's hitting on college women by showing them porn in the library, Alvin M. Greene.

Let that one wash over you for just a second. An unemployed military washout facing porn charges ... is *thisclose* (OK, not really) to becoming one of arguably the 300 most influential and powerful people in the world.

    /And, yes, I'm a Republican

I think if it were held today, she'd get the nomination. If she runs, the republicans will gang up on her and make what the media dug up on her in 2008 look like nothing and she might win the nomination anyway. And yes, she'd get shellacked by Obama in the general.

I'm hoping she realizes that she has things pretty good right now and with all the money she's pulling from Fox and book and TV deals. If she runs against Obama and loses, she'll become as forgotten as quickly as you can say Walter Mondale.

Is it just me, or does it seem curious that so much attention was paid to Christine O'Donnell and so little was paid to this lunatic?

Honestly, not really. Because he has been completely invisible. Just this week he sent his FIRST news release. He's run a grand total of ZERO commercials and I haven't seen the first sign for him. It's like he doesn't even exist. It's the damndest thing I've ever seen.

The latest: The local food writer is now running a write-in campaign. As of about a week ago.

The difference between O'Donnell and Greene is that one of them seems to actually have a chance and is ... you know ... actually campaigning.

Greene *was* all over the news after the primary and also when he gave his only speech of his campaign.

I'm wondering if he was female and republican if the media would have unleashed holy hell on him.

I'm not an O'Donnell fan, but for someone who has never had a chance in hell at winning, people have been treating her like she's running for president.

    That makes sense.

If Matt Lauer went a day without mentioning O'Donnell, I can't remember it. Then today he screws up her name, or calls her the last name of her opponent or something.

    Does she have a shot?
