Electing a sheriff, casino style

    That's pretty common for small local posts. Elections are expensive.

    My first thought. At least we know the winner knows how to shoot accurately.

    Happened a while back in a small town the paper I was working for covered. They flipped a coin to settle it, and that was that.

    At least until the coin-flip winner died and was replaced by the coin-flip loser, whereupon we were disappointed not to be able to use the headline "Heads I win, tails you're dead."

    Winner becomes sheriff.
    Loser gets pushed down the stairs by Larry Phillips.
