'Eight Stupidest Things Sports Fans Love to Say'

"Call it both ways ref!"

 

The people who yell at the ref are in my personal Hell Hall of Fame.

"There's two teams out there!"
"How can we win when we're playing 5-on-8/9-on-13/11-on-17?"
My favorite, always screamed by parents of a team that is up by about 60 points in the fourth quarter: "Don't officiate the score, officiate the game!"

 

Complaints about officiating are only getting worse as people who should know better continue to push for more replay.
Might as well accept the inevtiable.

 

"Coach, talk about....." Oh, wait, that's a dumb question members of the media ask.

 

Fans at a game calling out plays "Reverse!!!!' "He's goin'!!!," "SCREEEEEEN!!!," "Motion! Motion! Motion!!!"

 

Little league and HS baseball fans are the worst about this.

 

I've been to hockey games where fans were screaming this about icing calls... during a power play.

 

Volleyball fans at matches on basketball courts with multiple sets of lines *never* know which ones they are cheering for.

 

"Three seconds!"

 

Particularly effective when yelled from the 40th row ... of the third deck!

 

"Balk!"

 

"Shoot!" at high school wrestling matches.
