Odds are strong it was a human-caused explosion. Odds are good it was terrorism. But terrorism by whom against whom? Most of the passengers and all of the crew were surely Muslims themselves. Egypt is not the West. It is, however, a military dictatorship facing increasing terror-based opposition, as it's imprisoned/executed other kinds of opponents. That's why US authorities are cautious in their initial responses to such events. Not because they find it convenient to say the sky is green. It's rather that there are different kinds of being wrong, and stating or implying that anything bad that happens anywhere has something to do with the US is stupid.
