Currently? A editor? Is that sentence part of the test?

I'd say they can't hire one soon enough.
I know a few people there. They're/their/there overwhelmed, particularly in sports.

Not quite sure what this job is. This isn't a posting for a sports copy editor and it seems to be a salaried position. Almost seems like some kind of quasi assistant sports editor job, with some news and feature story editing thrown in for good measure.

The help-wanted ad was submitted by Human Resources.

It's a good job on what we call the bridge team, the editors who serve as liaisons between Palm Beach Post assigning editors and the shared-services copy desk.

The editor in this role tonight in sports might do a first read on several staff stories (and send them to our website), compile a couple of local roundups and proof a few pages. He or she would make news decisions as needed and also might handle a couple of stories from other departments. Tomorrow night, this editor might handle solely news-side copy. This job will be sports-oriented, but flexibility will be important.

The previous editor in this role went to the Washington Post.

We are quite busy but probably have more time to hone copy than most sports departments do in today's world.

    Everyone is overwhelmed these days.

Obviously, a very hybrid position. Which you need to be these days.

Sounds like a good job. If I had a notion to move back to South Florida, I'd be all over it.

It does sound like a good job. Didn't know there were still editors left working between the assigning editors and copy desk. Would be nice to actually have time to work a story. Since this is Cox, do applications still go through Atlanta or do they go straight to Palm Beach?

Oh, this is a step above copy desk? Does that mean it pays more than what the desk jockeys make?

I've had some shops like that but always in news. They were the first to go during layoffs, though :(

Well, got to talk to a Cox recruiter, who said he was going to set up an interview, but have heard nothing. Website still says "under consideration".

I've never had an ounce of help from a recruiter. Gotta go right to the key editor, if possible.

It looks like a solid hire was made for this gig, with a South Florida background.
